A Corny Hello

Only one more day and the Holiday Catalog will be "live"!  Are  you making your list?  Checking it twice?  (Oh, sorry, wrong season, especially for today's card!).

When I attended Convention in July, I won the adorable stamp set, Acorny Thank You during a Prize Patrol.  This very fall-appropriate set has a matching punch, which was first on my list to order.  I finally got around to playing with it...see the results:

This was a very easy card, but I love the results.

I started with a piece of Whisper White Thick Cardstock, 4-1/4" x 11", folded at 5-1/2".  I ran a piece of Early Espresso (4" x 5-1/4") through my Big Shot with my Woodgrain Embossing Folder, and adhered it to my base.

The acorns were stamped in Early Espresso and Always Artichoke and the little caps were stamped using Crumb Cake and Tip Top Taupe inks.  These pieces were punched with the Acorn Builder Punch (I love it when things coordinate!) and the caps were popped up on the acorn with Dimensionals.

A strip of 5/8" Chevron Ribbon and another of 1-1/4" Burlap Ribbon (cut in half) were adhered to my card (using Tear and Tape Adhesive) and the acorns were popped up.  I frayed some of the Burlap Ribbon, and used a thread to make a little bow, adhered to the acorn with a Mini Glue Dot.

"Hello" was cut with the Big Shot and the Greetings Thinlits and Whisper White cardstock; this is adhered to the front with Two-Way Glue.

And that's all there is to it!  So cute...and this corny little set and punch can be yours tomorrow!

Are You Ready for the Holiday Catalog?

Just two more days and we'll be able to order from the fabulous Holiday Catalog!  As a Stampin' UP! demonstrator, I had the ability to order early, and order I did!  I've been playing with new toys, and will be showing you some stampin' goodness this week.  I'll also list out my Ten Favorite Things in case you like what I'm showing.

First up:  Gorgeous Papers!

OK, you seriously HAVE to get online first thing Tuesday morning and get some of these GORGEOUS Red Foil Sheets!  I've long been a fan of the Gold Foil and Silver Foil, but this Red is the bomb!  So shiny and beautiful!  This stuff will fly out the door at the Stampin' UP! distribution center--get it before it's gone.

Everything on this card is new.  The base is a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Whisper White Thick Cardstock, scored at 5-1/2" and folded in half.  Then there is a 4" x 5-1/4" layer of Real Red Envelope Paper...what's that?  Did I just say Real Red Envelope Paper?  Yes I did!  (Do you see the red envelope by my card?)  Yes, Stampin' UP! has released a companion to the wonderful In-Color and Neutrals Envelope papers, and this is just perfect for the holidays.

But I digress...After the layer of Envelope Paper is a layer of Whisper White cardstock.  This measures 3-7/8" x 5-1/8".

I added two thin strips of Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum on either side.  These are only 1/4" wide x 5-1/8" but add such a shiny touch.

And now for the fun!  I used the new Delicate Ornament Thinlits Dies in two sizes to cut the ornaments.  For one I used the Gold Foil Sheets and the other is from the Red Foil.  The dies even cut the little hanging thingy on the tops of my ornaments.  Are they not gorgeous?!?

My gold one is glued flat with Two-Way Glue.  I threaded some new Gold Cording Trim through the top (it's folded over the back and glued down with a Mini Glue Dot).  The red ornament is popped up on extremely thin strips of Dimensionals.

Finally comes the "merry", cut with my Big Shot and Christmas Greetings Thinlits Dies.  No stamping at all on this card.

But if you really need to stamp, there is a matching stamp set, Embellished Ornaments.  Pop back in later this week to see what I've cooked up with that set.  So easy to create beauty when you have wonderful stamps and matching framelits!

So are you ready?  Place your order early for these gorgeous papers and dies!  Too good to miss!

All items can be ordered here on Tuesday, September 1.

A New Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop

August 2015 Blog Hop photo August 2015 Banner.jpg

Yes it's time for another blog hop by the WackyWatercooler gang.  Our hop is a circle; by clicking on the links you will be able to visit all those who are playing along this month.  You may have just popped over from Kath's blog; she always wows me with her creations!  And if you've just joined here, please continue around to see what all our participants have created.

This month we are showcasing a special stamp set, Sprinkles of Life.  Stampin' UP! has long been a supporter of the Ronald McDonald House Charities and each year creates a special stamp set just for RMHC.  For every Sprinkles of Life set sold, Stampin' UP! will donate $3.00 (US) to this wonderful cause.  So let's see if our blog hop creations will inspire you to purchase a set of your own and be a part of the contributions!

Traditional Sprinkles:

I started with a traditional (though slightly enlarged) birthday card.  Who doesn't love cupcakes for birthdays?  The base is Tip Top Taupe, with a layer of the Tip Top Taupe-striped Envelope Paper.  My layer of Mint Macaroon has an oval opening (Oval Framelits).  It was stamped with an image from Butterfly Basics along the edges.  This layer is popped up on Dimensionals over the stamped images.

The cupcake stand was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Tip Top Taupe ink.  I cut a piece of Mint Macaroon Dotted Lace Ribbon and adhered it to the stand.

My cupcake is in Mint Macaroon and Blushing Bride with a Calypso Coral banner.  The frosting is drizzled with Dazzling Details and a few Blushing Bride Sequins were scattered.

And of course, there's a matching envelope!
And...I needed a gift card holder:

The Mini Treat Bag Thinlets were just the ticket!  Teamed up with BYOP, I had a sweet gift for my daughter-in-law.

Sprinkles of Life Thinking Outside the Box

Or maybe this should be called "inside the box"?  This is a shadow box card, one that folds flat for mailing, but allows you to build a scene inside.

My sky is sponged, and my ground is stamped with the "hill" from Sheltering Tree.  My trees are stamped (Sprinkles of Life) and punched with the matching punch, and popped up on Dimensionals.

See the little pumpkin?  That is actually punched with the Tree Builder Punch (it's the APPLE!) and I drew a little jack-o-lantern face on it.

The leaves in my basket were "rocked and rolled" in Crushed Curry, Tangelo Twist and Rich Razzleberry.

Cute?  I had a lot of fun creating my diarama!

Our final project was to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) a project from the new Annual Catalog.  I chose a pretty card on page 74, which uses Wild About Flowers:

And here is my card:
I used the same set and basically the same layout, with some changes.  Perhaps the biggest difference is my burlap label.
I cut the edges off Burlap Ribbon and layered the strips over a Deco Label (framelits) out of cardstock.  My stamped images are in Old Olive and Delightful Dijon inks, and happy birthday is stamped in Early Espresso.

My Crumb Cake card base is splattered with stamps from Gorgeous Grunge and Awesomely Artistic.  I used my Deco Label framelit as a stencil to paper pierce around.  Then I took a strip of the white Corrugated Paper, stamped a few splats on it, and adhered it.  Next came my burlap label, and my stamped image (I took some Silver Metallic Thread and stuck it on the back with a Mini Glue Dot, but this is hard to see in the photo; see close-up above).

I finished with a cut-down strip of Crumb Cake 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and added a Vintage Faceted Button with a Metal Rimmed Pearl in the center and a little bow of Linen Thread underneath.

That's it for me!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Please head on over to Bev's blog; I always love seeing what she has to show us.
