Back to the Palace

Yes I have another Eastern Palace Suite card for you today.  But first, I want to start by wishing all moms a Happy Mothers Day!  I do hope you get to spend some time with your special peeps, be it in person or by phone.  Mine are all grown and gone, so phone calls/Face Time will make it a special day.

Today I have one more Eastern Palace card for you.  I think this is my favorite of all the ones I've brought you so far (although I think I said that about each and every one!  See them all here, here, here, and here ). What do you think?

This one is full of details.  First up are those Gold Vinyl Stickers--wowsers!  What a treat to use!  I stuck two of them on some Night of Navy cardstock and cut them out using the matching thinlits dies.  They were cut using TWO dies--the outside and the inside, and they match up perfectly to the stickers!  So gorgeous!
I also cut the outside medallion using Lemon Lime Twist, and layered them together.  A Gold Faceted Gem added to the center of the medallions made the perfect blingy, finishing touch!

Make this card:
1.  Start with Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, cut to 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
2.  Add a 1" x 5-1/2" strip of Night of Navy to the left edge; top it with a 3/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper
3.  Cut a 3-1/4" x 5-1/4" piece of Night of Navy; heat emboss the sentiment using Versamark ink and Gold Embossing Powder.  Stamp small flourish in each corner (Versamark) and emboss with Gold; then stamp the dotted circles, using Night of Navy ink randomly on the panel
4.  Add medallions
5.  Add panel to card front
6.  Tie the gold tassle with a bow of Gold 1/8" ribbon; adhere to card using Glue Dot
7.  Add Gold Sequins to card front using Fine Tip Glue
8.  Sigh, smile and admire your work!

The Eastern Palace bundle is now available.  See my post here for details on how to order.

Happy For You

Who doesn't love happy occasions?
My niece and her husband just moved into their first home, and I wanted to send them a congratulations card.  How about this one?

This card just made me happy!  How about you?

Unfortunately, making it was not a happy occasion!  I had a completely different card in mind when I started, and went through a number of iterations until this one finally "appeared".  Has that ever happened to you?  Where your head and your hands just don't talk to each other?

But I digress...

I totally LOVE this card!  It's a Thick Whisper White cardstock base, with a layer of Night of Navy on top.  I ran a rectangle of Bermuda Bay through the Big Shot with the Festive embossing folder (retiring!  On sale; get it now!) and then added a piece of new Lemon Lime Twist cardstock embossed with the Large Polka Dots folder (also retiring!).

The "Happy" is from Happy Celebrations; it was stamped with Bermuda Bay ink, and overstamped with the "splash" from the same set, using Lemon Lime Twist ink - LOVE!  "New Beginnings" was heat embossed on Night of Navy with White Embossing Powder after being stamped with Versamark ink.

The sentiment panels are raised on Dimensionals; there's a Lace Doily behind them.  And some Enamel Shapes (Brights and Regals) were added to finish the card.

I hope this makes you smile!

Love and Sympathy

Sometimes you just need a good sympathy card.  That was last week for me, when the mom of a childhood friend passed away.  I wanted a beautiful, understated card, and I think that's what I got:

I don't usually create mostly white cards.  I always think the space should be filled, even though I love mostly white creations.  But this one was easy.

I began by stamping the flower image from Love and Sympathy (retired) onto watercolor paper.  I colored the stamp using new Berry Burst ink (the Stampin' Write marker) and Garden Green.  Before stamping, I spritzed the stamp with water.  The paper was then cut using a non-Stampin' UP! stitched rectangle die.

The card base is Thick Whisper White (cut 5-1/4" x 10-1/2"), and there's a layer of Berry Burst under the Watercolor paper main panel.

The sentiment was also stamped using Berry Burst; this strip was placed on doubled-up Dimensionals to raise it above the panel with the flower.

The card is finished with some Perfect White Accents

Clean, simple, beautiful.

Back to the Farm

Wood Words is a new stamp set making an appearance in the upcoming catalog, to be released June 1st.  I was playing with the stamps and came up with a rustic, farm-themed card:

Love the background!  The Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack is also coming in the new catalog, and I thought it would be perfect to create a barn-like card.

Each shape was cut in the wood paper.  They were stamped and cut with the matching framelits.  Then I just placed the wood paper on my cardstock base, and using Liquid Glue, added the shape through the matching "window".

The wood paper was then popped up on Dimensionals to rise above the shapes.

"thanks" was cut with the Hello You thinlits dies, soon to retire.  Check out the retiring list (here); there are still lots of great bargains to be had!
